HARDEMENT - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert William Hardement on April 12, 2009, at the age of 86 years. He was born on the family farm south of Aneroid, SK, to Harold and Helen Hardement on October 12, 1922. He went to Erinlea School and worked several jobs before being called to the Army. He served in Belgium, France and Holland until he had a serious injury to his hand while driving tank. Upon coming home he worked at many places and then took over the farm. On November 21, 1951, he married Margaret Owen. They had four children - twin boys Harold and Garold; son Lorne and daughter Janice. Many happy days were spent on the farm - swimming, playing hockey and ball which Bob excelled at. Bob always had a sense of humour and could keep everyone entertained with his jokes. He loved to sing and dance. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in March of 1971. Dad courageously fought Parkinson's disease for many years and endured various surgeries. Due to his failing health the family moved to Swift Current in October of 1973. Several years later the need for advanced care had Bob move into the Palliser Care Center on January 12, 2004, where he received "excellent care" for the past five years. He was predeceased by his father, Harold in 1951; his mother, Helen in 1966; brother, Jim in 1985; sister, Evelyn in 1998; and many cousins, uncles and aunts. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 57 years, Margaret; son, Harold and his children, Jenny (Aaron), Theresa and Stephanie; son, Garold(LeeAnn) and their children, Tracy (Dave), Calvin and Robin; son, Lorne (Pat) and their children, Crystal (Shawn), Juanita (Brad) and Bobby; daughter, Janice (Gerald) Sluth and their child, Kevin (Natasha); 7 great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces, as well as many good friends. The memorial service was held at the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses with Bill Burgess officiating on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at 2:00 PM. Bob's cremated remains will be interred at the Aneroid Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to the Palliser Regional Care Centre Auxiliary would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to thank Dr. Gordon and the Palliser Regional Care Center staff for the wonderful care they provided to Dad over the years. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
