The death occurred peacefully, with family by his side, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, of Ellison Toole of South Melville, age 87. Ellison was the loving father of Anita Toole (George Reimer), Ont., Joanne (Dennis) McManus,Churchill, Eugene (Carlene Connolly), Charlottetown, Cheryl (David) Allen, Emerald, Karen (James) McIver, Newton, Justina, South Melville and Alan and Christopher at home, grandfather of Gregory and Steven McManus, Lori Nicholson, Amanda Allen-Moffatt and Joey Allen, Emily, Nathan, Logan, Harrison and Meredith McIver; and Alex Fortune, and great-grandfather of Madeline, Mya, Carman and Ella. Ellison is also survived by his brother, Gavin (Elaine) Toole, his sister, Marie Toole, sisters-in-law, Sister Margaret McGaughey and Mary McGaughey, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his beloved wife, Della, and his son-in-law, Dan Fortune, he was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Bina (Malone) Toole. Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Rd., New Glasgow for visitation on Thursday, April 16, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kelly’s Cross on Friday, April 17, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. Interment in St. Joseph’s Church Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Ellison's memory to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
