March 27, 1921 - April 13, 2009. It is with sadness that the families of the late Rita P. Houlahan announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, aged 88 years. She is predeceased by her husband, William; parents, Joseph and Alice Smith of Gooseberry Cove, Trinity Bay, NL & sister, Ann Hemple of Paxton, Illinois. Left to mourn with fond loving memories are her children: Reverend William Houlahan of Grand Falls-Windsor, Sheila, (John) Greene of St. John's, NL, John (Diane) Houlahan of Goose Bay, NL, Betty (Bob) Osmond of Slave Lake, AB, Patricia (Glen) Edwards of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL; Sisters: Gwen (Vivian) Marshall of St. Johns, NL, Mary Avery of Gooseberry Cove, Trinity Bay, NL, Muriel (Ed) Hayley of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Bernice (Bill) Spurrell of Hodges Cove, NL; Brothers, Ben (Pearl) Smith of Sunnyside, NL, Victor Smith & Roy (Doris) of Gooseberry Cove, Trinity Bay, NL; 12 Grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. The funeral service will take place, Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 2 pm from The Cathedral of Immaculate Conception with Reverend William Houlahan officiating. Visitation will take place, Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at 7-9 pm, Wednesday April 15, 2009, at 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor.
