Passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2009, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, Mary Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Evanitski, R.N., of RR4 Aylmer, Ont., at the age of 70 years.
Born March 22, 1939 in Sydney Mines, N.S., daughter of the late Eugene ‘Hap’ Sullivan and the late former Mary Shinners.
Betty was a resident of the Municipality of Bayham since 1966 and was a former dedicated registered nurse (R.N.) at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital for over 30 years, retiring in 1997.
Loving wife and best friend of 46 years of Terrence Evanitski. Proud and loving mother of Clifford (Carol) Evanitski, of RR4 Alymer and Stephen (Suzanne) Evanitski of Keswick. Very proud grandma of Phillip, Emily, Lexie, Ryann, Ethan and Lauren. Loved sister of Frank (Dorothy) Sullivan, Bert (Carol) Sullivan, Keith (Debbie) Sullivan, all of Nova Scotia. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by an infant brother, Anthony and an infant sister, Colleen.
Friends, neighbours and relatives were received by the Evanitski family Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Verhoeve Funeral Home, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg (519-842-4238). Parish prayers were Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Betty to be said today (Tuesday) at 10 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 51 Venison St. W., Tillsonburg by Rev. Father Maurice Charbonneau. Interment Best Cemetery, RR4 Aylmer.
Memorial donations in Betty’s memory are payable by cheque only to the Tillsonburg Dialysis Unit or the Backus Memorial Forest and can be arranged through the Verhoeve Funeral Home, Tillsonburg.
