Winnifred Evelyn Wujek, 80, of Glace Bay passed away Monday, April 20, 2009, at the Glace Bay Health Care Facility.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Billy and Evelyn (Davis) MacDonald.
Winnifred was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay. She was employed at Black Diamond Drug Store for 40 years. Winnifred was well known for her baking and loved to have people visit and have a cup of tea and sweets. She will be remembered as a very compassionate lady with a strong work ethic and positive outlook on life.
Winnifred is survived by her daughter, Karen and son-in-law, Patrick Reid, Glace Bay; her two grandchildren whom she greatly adored, Amanda in Fort McMurray, and Elyse, Glace Bay; one brother, Donald and his wife, Winnifred, Connecticut, U.S.A.; brother-in-law, Frank Wujek and his wife, Carmie, Toronto. She will be greatly missed by her little friend, Oreo.
Winnifred was predeceased by her husband, John in January and a special aunt and uncle, Stella and Harry Davis.
Cremation will take place. Visitation will be held at the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay, and a service will take place at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay with the time and date to be announced. Interment to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Rev. Vernon Reid will officiate.
Family flowers only. As an expression of sympathy for Winnifred, donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary’s Anglican Church Building Fund, Glace Bay.
