Passed in: Saskatchewan, Canada

ROUSSEAUX – Francis Joseph Vital Rousseaux passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2009, at the age of 65 years. Francis was born in Ponteix on June 1, 1943. He lived on the farm at Vanguard enjoying farm life and being involved in all kinds of activities. He would go out to the pasture and help bring cows home and would spend many days helping grandma in the house. His job was to set the table and when he did everything had an exact place it had to be. He didn’t want anyone to mess with his system! After leaving the farm he moved into Vanguard with grandma and grandpa. Grandma and Grandpa then decided to move to Kelowna, and while out there, Frannie attended a school that could help him with his special needs. In 1969, he came back to Saskatchewan and was placed at Valley View Centre in Moose Jaw. He remained there until 1990 when a new group home was opening in Gravelbourg. He was their first client, what a change for him, he loved his new extended family. There he truly was at home, they have been so good to him the past nineteen years and there is no way our family can ever thank them enough for everything they did for him. We will remember him especially for his beautiful, mischievous smile, a smile that could melt your heart! On April 2, he moved to the Lafleche Long Term Care Facility, and once again became very weak. It was so fitting that on Easter Sunday our dear Frannie went to his heavenly home to God. Frannie is survived by his brothers, Albert and Grace of Swift Current, Philip and Noella of Vanguard, Paul and Norma of Vanguard, Jim and Pauline of Qu’Appelle; his loving sister, Louise Bickner of Swift Current; and his brother-in-law Jack Rathje of Kelowna. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephew and all his Group Home family. He has now gone to join his parents, Vital and Anastasia Rousseaux; one sister, Mary Rathje; and two brothers-in-law, Tony Hornung and Ben Bickner. Funeral mass was held Friday, April 17, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. from Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, Gravelbourg, SK, with Father Keith Heiberg celebrant. The eulogist was Laurie Finlay. Readers were Irene Skulmoski and Bobby Rousseaux. Intentions Annette Gruending. Ushers were Gary Hornung and Brian Rousseaux. Honorary pallbearers were the Group Home and I.P.I. clients and staff. Pallbearers were Gerard Rousseaux, John Rousseaux, Marcel Rousseaux, David Rousseaux, Jeff Hornung and Don Hornung. Interment was at the Vanguard Cemetery. Lunch and fellowship followed at St. Joseph’s Church, Vanguard, SK. Memorials were received for I.P.I. or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapels Assiniboia and Gravelbourg, SK.
