The family of Lloyd Cyril MacNeil sadly witnessed his passing Monday, April 20, 2009.
He was the beloved husband of Anita Durkacz. Adored father of Judith and Peter Roston; Brenda and Greg Young; Maureen and Bob Smith; Robert and Maureen MacNeil; Laurie and Brent Musgrave; Shauna and Sergio Salamonovitz. Precious grandfather (Poppy) to Nadine, Melissa, and Chauntelle Roston; Chelsey Young; Robert Lloyd, Kirk, Brittany and Spencer Smith; Matthew and Mark MacNeil; Bryceson, Mariah and Victoria Musgrave. Delighted great-grandfather to Noah Daniel Roston.
Lloyd was the youngest son of John Dan and Mary (Johnston) MacNeil of MacLeod Street, Whitney Pier.
He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Mariah, Margie, Mickey, Dewie and three infant brothers.
He is survived by his remarkable sister, Catherine (Caka) Orychuck.
He was a wonderful and admired Uncle Lloydie to all of the Gallivans, the Orychucks, the Raouls, the Mickeys and the Dewies. Lloyd touched the lives of countless friends, neighbours, and co-workers throughout his life. All of these families share our loss and unburden our grief with their support and strength in numbers.
Dad was a devoted provider and protector to his family. This was his legacy. We take comfort in these last words he wrote Saturday, April 18, 2009: “Day by Day. Happiness.â€
A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Johnstown, 1 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009.
