STELLARTON – John Roy MacLeod, 82, of Stellarton, passed away Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Donkin, Cape Breton, April 16th, 1927, he was a son of the late John and Evelyn (Hussey) MacLeod.
He was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, RCOC division retiring after 21 years service to work at Henderson Hospital, Hamilton, ON. In 1971, John returned to Nova Scotia and worked for Michelin Tire, Granton Plant. He and his wife, Bonnie ran their own wool and handcraft shop in New Glasgow and Westville. John finished his working career as night auditor at the Heather Motel in Stellarton.
John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bonnie (Burke), Stellarton; sister, Joan Quinton, Cambridge, ON; brother, Cecil (Cassie), North Sydney; sons: Dan (Sandra) Halifax; Rob (Mary), Toronto; Lawry (Mary) Oxford; Bruce (Darlene), Halifax; Brian (Lori) Mooresville, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday from the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Visitation will be held at 2 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Chapter of Canadian Hemophilia Society or the Nova Scotia Chapter of Canadian Lung Association.
