Dankaur Virick, of Blacketts Lake, passed away peacefully in her 95th year, at her home in Blacketts Lake, on Friday, April 24, 2009, surrounded by her loving family.
Born December 25, 1914, in a small railroad village in Yamethin, Burma, she was the daughter of the late Gurdith Singh and Uttam Devi.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Mohan (Mabel Ann); Dr. Surbans Kaur (the late Sarabjeet Singh); Dr. Ranjit Parminder (Brigader Parminder); Dr. Sudershan Goomar (Dr. Jagit); 10 grandchildren, Sandi Virick, Anju Virick, Ajay Virick, Aneal Virick, Dr. Kamal Ohson, Dr. Ravi Ohson, Moninder Ohson, Dr. Amy Parminder, Dr. Anita Goomar, Dr. Arun Goomar, and also by 18 great-grandchildren.
Dankaur was the matriarch of the Indian community in Sydney and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kehar Singh.
Family and friends will gather at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel on Saturday at 3 p.m. to pay their last respects. Cremation will take place at 400 George Street, Sydney at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009.
