NICHOLS, Catherine Pattison – 100, Wynn Park Villa, Truro, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, April 22, 2009 in the villa. Born November 2, 1908 in Scotland, she was a daughter of the late Reverend Daniel and Robina (Gemmell) Maitland. Catherine was an active member of First Baptist Church, Truro, for many years where she was a member of the choir. She was also a Dominion Life Member of Grace Archibald Women’s Missionary Society and a member of UBWMU of the Atlantic Provinces. Catherine is survived by her daughters, Miriam (Mike) Forbes, Jamaica; Barbara (Wallace) Leach, Toronto; four granddaughters; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Burton Nichols; sister, Ann Marshall; brother, Ross Maitland. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday, April 30, 2009, Reverend Andy Crowell officiating. Reception will follow. Interment will be held in Robie Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine’s memory to Grace Archibald WMS, Canadian Baptist Ministries or charity of choice are welcomed.
