RITA KATHERINE BELSEY (nee: Passmore) of Moose Jaw passed away April 25, 2009 at the age of 89 years. Born in Lafleche, Saskatchewan September 20, 1919, she moved to Moose Jaw where she met and married Edward (Ted) on July 10, 1937. She was a founding member of the Moose Jaw and District Seniors, a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Moose Jaw Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary. Rita represented Zone 3 in the 55 Plus Seniors Games. She enjoyed golf, curling, bowling, lawn bowling, darts, goodminton, volunteering for the Seniors club and playing Whist with her condo friends. Rita was predeceased by Ted, her husband of sixty-nine years, her son Glenn, sister Vera Currie, brothers: Clifford Passmore, Ernest Passmore, Percy Passmore and Lloyd Passmore. Rita is survived by her daughters: Sharon (Paul) Ziehlke, Laurel (Bernard) Schaan and Debra Belsey; daughter-in-law, Lilian Belsey; sisters-in-law: Carmel Passmore and Eve Passmore; grandchildren: Jill (Joe), Jodene (Peter), Alison, Ian (Somanta), Aaron, and Justin; great-grandchildren: Jeannine, Ashley, Roger, Catherine, Charlotte, Natalie, Duncan, and William. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Betty Bradley will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday evening (7-8 p.m.) at the Funeral Home. For those so wishing, memorials may be made to the Moose Jaw and District Seniors Association, 101 – 510 Main St. N., S6H 3K3 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2.
