1919 - 2009 ­ Charles N. Hollett, 89, of Moncton, NB, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday, April 26, 2009. Born in Bull's Cove, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Cyrus and Ann Louise (Martin) Hollett. Charlie was a retired CN Special Assistant to General Superintendent, Express Freight Operations (Moncton), member of St.
James Anglican Church where he served on various committees in past years. Charlie was a Member and Past Patron of Frank H. Tingley #5 O.E.S.; member and Past Master of Avalon #4 Masonic Order, St. John's, NF, affiliated with Acacia Lodge #49 F & AM (former Chaplin, 10 years service), was made an honorary member of Acacia Lodge #49 F & AM, Moncton and Centennial Lodge #53, F & AM, Oromocto; Past Grand Master of the New Brunswick Masonic Grand Lodge; Member and Past TPGM of the Scottish Rite, Moncton Lodge of Perfection; 33 Degree Mason; Member of Luxor Shrine Temple, Saint John; The Moncton Shrine Club and the Royal Order of Scotland; Member of the New Brunswick Masonic Charities and Housing Company and was made Director Emeritus; NB Representative for the Newfoundland and Labrador Grand Lodge and served with the Merchant Navy, overseas during WWII.
Charles will be sadly missed by his children, Charles (Monika), Cambridge, ON; Barbara Chaulk (Douglas), St. John¹s, NF, Linda Hollett, Moncton, Karen Hollett (Fred Harrington), Halifax, NS; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Doris (Kelland) (June 1986); brothers, George, Thomas, Ralph; sisters, Winnifred, Muriel, Caroline.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995), Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Acacia Lodge # 49 F & AM Memorial Service, Wednesday, 6:30 pm followed by Frank H. Tingley Chapter # 5 OES Memorial Service, 6:45 pm. Funeral service, St. James Anglican Church, St. George Blvd., Moncton, Thursday, April 30, 2009, 1:30 pm, Rev. Don Hamilton officiating. Reception following the service. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
