Johnny Hillier, 58, New Waterford, passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on April 28, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Waterford, Johnny was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Doris (Durdle) Hillier.
He was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, New Waterford.
He retired from Lingan Mine.
Johnny’s happiest times have been spent with his true love, Lynn, his four children and especially his five grandchildren, who he truly adored. He was a friend to all who loved and knew him.
Johnny fought a courageous battle with a difficult illness with strength, dignity and perseverance which was surpassed by none.
He loved the outdoors and especially hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He loved life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn (MacDonald) Hillier; two daughters, Kendra (Mr. Ray Grant), Saint John, N.B., and Erin Beaton, Windsor, N.S.; two sons, Chris (Antoinette Loro), New Waterford, and Jonathan (Janet Smith), Saint John, N.B.; five grandchildren, Morgan, Tyler, Sophia, Ryan and Cole.
There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. Memorial service will take place Saturday at All Saints Anglican Church, New Waterford with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating with date and time to be announced. Private burial to take place in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown.
Donations in Johnny’s memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Arthritis Society.
