Amy Staples passed away in Vernon, B.C. on January 9, 2009. Amy was born on July 16, 1915 in Kelliher, Saskatchewan to Alfred and Evelyn Lee, who each immigrated to Canada as homesteaders from England and Scotland respectively. Amy worked as a teacher as a young woman in the Petrolia district near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Amy married Henry (Happy) Jones in 1940. Amy and Hap farmed in the Moose Jaw area. Hap passed away in 1959. Amy then married Roy Staples in 1960. Amy and Roy farmed in the Moose Jaw area, and Amy taught at Prince Arthur School in Moose Jaw until their retirement in the 1980s, after which they moved to the Okanagan area. Amy and Roy had a wide circle of friends in the Moose Jaw area. Amy was an active member of the Petrolia Teatimers and the United Church Women. Amy and Roy belonged to the Square Dance Club and the Camping Club as well as being active members of Zion United Church in Moose Jaw. Amy remained at Roy's side until his death in 2004. Amy survived her brother, Norman Frederick Lee, who passed away in Edmonton in 2003, and is survived by her brother Walter Bruce Lee, who lives in Vancouver, B.C., as well as countless brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Amy was a loving, loyal, selfless and conscientious wife, aunt, sister, sister-in-law and friend. Amy's home was always open to friends and relatives in need. Amy always thought of others before herself, and enriched the lives of everyone who were lucky enough to have been a part of her wide circle of family and friends. A Graveside Memorial will be held for Amy at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 4311 Pleasant Valley Road, Vernon, B.C. on June 6, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. (Grave #67, Block 1006, Row N), to be followed by a reception at the ***** Restaurant, **** - **** Vernon, B.C at 1:15 p.m..
