The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday, April 30, 2009, of Sylvia LeClair (nee Cheverie) of Charlottetown, and formerly of North Rustico and Souris, age 70. Sylvia was the wife of the late Elzear Gallant and Ferdinand LeClair; mother of Evan Gallant, Rae (Freddie) McSwain, Ian (Glenna) Gallant, Adwin (Ruth) Gallant, Carl (Maureen) Gallant, Roxanne Small, Melissa (Joe) Murray, Marlene (Phil) Ferguson and Cedric (Jacqueline) Small; grandmother of Chastity, Darlene, Alexis, Johnny, Gerry, Racheal, Nicki, Lauren, Marissa, Matt, Janessa, Joseph and Alisha and great-grandmother of Brandon. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Herbie (Agnes) Cheverie, Freda (Art) MacKinnon, Marguerite (the late Herbie) MacIsaac, Charlie (Clair) Cheverie, Betty (Leonard) Osborne, Grant (Millie) Cheverie, Winnie (Ian) Strang, Millie Cheverie, Edie (John) Broderick and Marlene (Bernard) Clinton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her two husbands, Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, Warren and Marguerite (nee Grant) Cheverie; her sisters, Norma Robichaud, Jeanette Jones and Julie Gallant; brothers, Buddy and Albin and granddaughter, Vickie-Lynn Gallant. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Avenue, Stratford, for visitation on Sunday, May 3, 2009, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Parkdale, on Monday, May 4, 2009, at 2 p.m. Interment in Stella Maris Church Cemetery, North Rustico. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Sylvia’s memory to the Oncology Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital would be appreciated. Flowers gratefully declined. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow, P.E.I.
