Passed peacefully away on Friday, May 1, 2009 at Hoyles-Escasoni. Rose Whelan, age 87 years. Predeceased by her husband John McCormack, 1977; husband Patrick Whelan, 2002; sons John McCormack, 2001, and Edward McCormack, 2003; sisters Elizabeth Brocklehurst, 1998, and Mary; brother Jack Barry and daughter-in-law Patricia McCormack, 1989 and brother-in-law Frank Brocklehurst. Leaving to mourn her daughter Patricia Maidment (Arthur), Riverview, N.B.; daughters-in-law Jean McCormack, Torbay, and Katie McCormack, St. John’s; sister-in-law Margaret Barry, B.C.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; all the members of the Whelan family, especially Edward Whelan and his wife Beverley. Also a large number of nieces, nephews and friends. A special thank-you to all the staff at Hoyles west one. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Torbay. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will take place on Monday, May 4, 2009 at Holy Trinity Church, Torbay at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Tors Cove. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
