It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of George MacMullin, Friday, May 1, 2009, at home.
Born in Louisbourg, George was the son of the late John and Stella (Dixon) MacMullin.
He was a lifetime resident of Louisbourg and Stella Maris parish.
George worked hard all his life running many different businesses, the service station, the taxi stand, the ambulance service, apartment building and the Chateau Beverage Room. He was a large supporter of the community and a big supporter of the little league baseball. He was well respected by many, all whom will miss him dearly.
George is survived by his three children, Joanne (Ward) Evans, Pat, both of Louisbourg, Michael, Alberta; sisters, Sr. Mary Roderick, Theresa, Betty and Joan; brothers, Gregory, Ralph and Michael; as well as nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Dawson and Joseph, who could always make him laugh.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Ferguson) MacMullin, sisters, Margaret and Sadie, brothers, Pat, Roderick, John, Peter and Daniel.
Visitation will take place today, Monday May 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Stella Maris Church, Louisbourg. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 5 at Stella Maris Church, with Fr. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Interment to follow in church cemetery, Clarks Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stella Maris Church Building Fund.
