It is with great sadness the family of the late Loretta Grace (Beaton) Roy age 75, of Amherst, announce her passing on Friday, May 1, 2009 at Moncton Hospital.
Born in Londonderry, NS, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Laura Eagles.

Loretta was a stay at home Mom and Foster Mom until her employment as a Telephone Operator in Northport (Cumberland Rural Telephone Services) and was one of the last to hold this type of position.
After moving from Lorneville to Amherst, she became an active member of the Lioness and participated in a mixed dart league at the Sgt. Mess. During this time she also worked at “A Touch of Country” on Victoria Street.

She was a lifelong lover of a variety of music and was well known for always having a tune on her lips and a polka in her feet.

Loretta is survived by her loving husband Norman, and was a devoted mother to her children Terry (Patricia) Beaton of Joggins, Debra (Rocky) Ripley of Warren, Guy (Bonnie) Beaton of Baie Verte, NB and Ardie (Tony) Eaton of Warren. She is also survived by two step children, Larry (Jeanette) Roy of Brookdale and Julia (David) Davidson of Beaverbank, NS, as well as two siblings Peg Turner and Stewart Eagles both of Truro, 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Loretta was predeceased by her first husband Russell Beaton and 7 brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 4, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. from Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst. (667-9906)

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Amherst Wesleyan Church in Amherst with Rev. Raymond Fancy officiating.

Donations in Loretta's memory may be made to Maggie's Place or the charity of your choice.

Interment will take place in the St. Charles – Nativity Cemetery in Amherst.
