Thomas Hollohan, 86, of Sydney, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 3, 2009.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late William and Johanna (Cashin) Hollohan.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s parish, Sydney.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Anne (Haddad) Hollohan; and by his many nieces and nephews in Sydney, Halifax, Alberta, Thunder Bay and U.S.A. He always loved to see them come and stay for a visit. He spent many happy hours at the trailer in Big Pond, where for 37 years, he played tarabish and cribbage with his friends, Sam and the late Thelma Joseph.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 128, Whitney Pier. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with the artillery unit.
He was predeceased by brothers, Paul, Jim, Richard and sisters, Mary MacAulay and Elizabeth Hollohan (Sr. Terence Marie, CND). He was affectionately known by the sisters of Notre Dame as ‘Dr. Tom.’
Visitation for the late Thomas Hollohan will take place Wednesday, May 6 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday form 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church with Rev. Gerald Dunphy officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
