Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 Catherine Whiffen (nee Kennedy) at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 95 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her two sons: Jerry, Corner Brook and Phonse (Jacqueline Power), St. John’s; three precious granddaughters: Catherine, Lisa and Sarah Whiffen; special niece and friend: Patricia Kennedy, Corner Brook; also survived by a wide range of nieces, nephews, other family and friends including, Cathy Chatelet and Rita O’Neil. She was predeceased by her husband Edward, 1998, niece Margaret Jones, 2008; as well as sisters: Ann Turner and Margaret Whiffen; brothers: Stanley, Richard, Peter and William Kennedy. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, January 30th at 10:30 A.M. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mt. Bernard Avenue. Father Ted O’Conner officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Daffodil Place.
