It is with great sadness that the family of the late Donald Payne announce his passing at the J.I. O’Connell Centre on Wednesday, July 23, at the age of 90 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 65 years, Alice (nee Payne); children: Eric (Jane), Doug (Irene), Kathleen Pittman (Bill Earle), Mike (Violet), and Don (Denise); 14 grandchildren: Maxine, Cynthia, Susan, Wally, Darren, Doug, Donna, Teena, Alonzo, Jason, Kevin, Morgan, Jacqueline and Carson; 22 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn; sister-in-law Bertha (Kenneth) Payne, brothers-in-law: Lawrence (Sara) Payne and Richard (Lucy) Payne. Pre-deceased by his parents Wallace and Anna Maria Payne; brothers: Charles, Douglas, Augustus, Henry, Baby Jacob; sisters: Martha, Clarissa, Helen (Nellie); and granddaughter Mona Ann Payne. Visitation will be held Friday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Anglican Church, Cow Head. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 26 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Cow Head, NL with Rev. Olson officiating. Interment to follow at the Anglican Church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
