Funeral For Young City Woman To Take Place This Afternoon

The funeral for a young Corner Brook woman killed in a car accident on the Trans-Canada Highway last week will take place this afternoon. Although police have yet to formally release her identity, an obituary in Saturday’s edition of The Western Star stated that 20-year-old Amanda Laura Forward had died in a tragic accident Dec. 18, the same date police reported the two-car collision near Goobies in eastern Newfoundland. At least three groups on the popular social networking website Facebook — each with several hundred members — have been established in memory of Ms. Forward, who had hopes of pursuing a career in animal science and care and was described as “a lover of creatures great and small.” She had been studying biology at Memorial University in St. John’s and was on her way home for the Christmas holiday when tragedy struck. A male passenger of the car in which Ms. Forward was riding was hospitalized with injuries while the drivers of both vehicles were treated for less serious injuries. The funeral service for the 2006 graduate of Regina High School will be held at First United Church on Park Street at 2 p.m.
