Passed peacefully at St. Michael’s Hospital, Palliative Care Unit on Monday, July 14, 2008. Born at Corner Brook, Newfoundland September 20, 1927 the eldest son of the late Harold Gibbons, and Edith Perrett Gibbons. Dear brother of Henry (Elizabeth) of Port-aux-Basques, NL., Audrey of Ottawa, Harold of Toronto and Douglas (Betty) of Corner Brook. Lovingly remembered by all of his nieces, nephews and many friends. Irving was employed with Canada Customs for 39 years in Corner Brook, Gander, Middleton, N.S. and Halifax. Irving was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 52 years having been initiated in Middleton, N.S. in 1956. In Middleton, N.S. he was also a member of the Lion’s Club and an active curler. There will be prayers in the Chapel of St. James-the-Less, 635 Parliament Street, Toronto on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 2 pm followed by cremation. A memorial service will take place at St. Andrew’s United Church, 117 Bloor Street East, Toronto in September. His urn will be brought back to Corner Brook, NL at a later date.
