PICTOU - Kenneth Young MacDonald, 82, of Division Road, Pictou, passed away April 7, 2010, peacefully at home with his family by his side, after a lengthy illness.
Born April 18, 1927 in Pictou, he was a son of the late Austin and Margaret (Getson) MacDonald.
He was an employee of Ferguson Industries, Pictou and the Saint John Dry Dock. He enjoyed working in his garden, hunting and fishing. He especially liked watching hockey and cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Kenneth loved being around his family, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Florence (Sutherland); sons: Earl (Judy), Barry, Brent (Karen), Eric (Lynn), Allan (Kelly); daughters, Judy (Leonard), Hazel (Robbie); 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; brothers: Bill (Mary), Ontario; Mel (Shirley), Dartmouth, Stuart (Beth), Pictou; Elizabeth, Truro; Charlotte, Scotch Hill; Sarah (Gerald), Caribou River; sister-in-law, Marge MacDonald.
He was predeceased by brothers, Arthur and Lawrence.
Visitation will be held 3-5, 7-9 p.m. Friday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Saturday from First Presbyterian Church, Pictou, with Rev. Iona MacLean officiating. Burial will be in Haliburton Cemetery.
