It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our brother and uncle, Ronald Stephen MacDonald, 57, resident of Georges River and formerly of Moulton Avenue, North Sydney on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late George and Eileen (Young) MacDonald.
Ronald was employed as a stevedore with Marine Atlantic and was a taxi driver for a number of years until his retirement. Ron enjoyed playing cards as a pastime and was an avid bingo player. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church.
Surviving is his brother, Jack (Debbie) MacDonald with whom he resided for the past 12 years; his sister, Colleen MacDonald, North Sydney. He was Uncle Ron to nephews, George and Wayne; nieces, Mary and Kimberly and to his grandnieces and nephews and to Jack and Debbie's grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his brother, George MacDonald.
Visitation will be held today (Monday), 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A grave side committal service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney, with Rev. Carl Fraser officiating.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Liver Foundation of Nova Scotia.
