Frans 'Frank' G. ten-Tusscher

Passed on: April 7th, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank ten-Tusscher at the age of 80. He died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, April 7, 2010.
Mourning his loss are his son, Rudy ten-Tusscher and daughter, Tricia Chatfield and his wife, Anne ten-Tusscher. During his accounting career, he was with the Glace Bay Heavy Water Plant for many years. Frank exhibited a real zest for life evidenced by his multiple end-to-end trips along the Bruce Trail, his frequent presence on the dance scene in Kitchener, skating in Cape Breton during his time there and a multitude of volunteer efforts. Frank was a dedicated Hospice of Waterloo and Freeport Health Centre volunteer, providing emotional and practical support to individuals with terminal illness and their families. He was a fitness instructor with Freeport's WALC program, a volunteer driver for Raise Home Support and as an accountant, voluntarily completed hundreds of tax returns for low income seniors. Frank sat on the board of directors for the Waterloo Region Gerontology Interest Group, and sat on several Elder Abuse Committees. His tremendous spirit and gentleness will be missed by his family and by those whose lives he touched.
A memorial service will be held at the Simple Alternative Funeral Centre, 1535 South Gateway Rd., Mississauga (Dixie Rd., 2 lights south of Eglinton Ave.), 905-602-1580, Sunday, April 25, 2010, 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Bruce Trail Conservancy.
