Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family Violet Albertha Read (nee Laing) at the Bonne Bay Health Centre, Long Term Care Unit at Norris Point on Sunday April 6th 2008 in her 100th Year. She was a life long resident of the area. She was the eldest child of John and Caroline Laing. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories: her two sisters: Alma Reid of Norris Point and Luella Hale of Lewisporte, one brother-in-law Wallace Reid and two sisters-in-law: Madeline Laing and Harriett Reid, also a large circle of very close relatives and friends. Violet was predeceased by her parents and husband Philip ( 1998 ), brothers: Edgar, John, Harvey, Russell, sisters: Mary and Leona, sisters-in-law: Gertie, Mary, Julia, Margaret, Amelia, Matilda, Eva and Rita, brothers-in-law: Edward, Frank, Augustus, Victor, Lorne, Gmery, Stanley and William Gordon. The family will be receiving family and friends from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm.on Tuesday, April 8th, 2008 from The Church of The Good Shepherd in Norris Point where also the funeral service will take place from on Wednesday, April 9th 2008 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. John Olsson officating, with the burial to follow at the church cemetery in Norris Point.
