George passed away peacefully on April 24th at SJRH after a brief illness. He was born in Saint John in 1914, the only son of Charles W. and Minnie Laura (Akerley) Gibbons. George worked in the electrical industry the greater part of his life and owned his own electrical contracting company. During the war he was employed as an electrical supervisor, building Corvettes (war ships), which he was very proud of. He loved to work but he also loved his social life, skating, dancing, curling and in his later years when he was slowing down physically, playing cards with his friends. He also loved boating on the river and owned many boats. Building two of them himself. George lived the first 59 years of his life in Saint John and the last 37 in Hampton. In his earlier years he was involved with his church, Main Street Baptist as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. His favorite pass time was talking, telling stories and jokes and writing pœtry. Everybody thought he was funny, and he liked that. He is survived by three children, Valerie Clark (Ronnie), Hampton, Charles "Chuck" Gibbons (Sandra), Saint John and Paula Kredl (Don), Hampton. His sister Laura Saunders, Grand Bay, seven grandchildren, Stephen, Deanna, Dean, Tammy, Karen, Kalina, and Karla, six great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.
