Sr. Rita Chiasson, f.j., in religion, Sr. Anne-Marie-Marguerite, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2010, at the Moncton Hospital, at the age of 82. She was in the 60th year of her religious profession.
Born on Nov. 18, 1927, in Chéticamp, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Roach) Chiasson.
Besides her religious family, she is survived by four sisters, Marguerite, Montréal, Marie Edna, Halifax, Thérèse, Chéticamp, and Laurette, Grand Étang, N.S.; one brother, Gerald, Halifax; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Sister's life mission can be summarized in these words: She spent her active years at the service of the sick as a nurse, director of nursing staff, administrator or in pastoral of the sick. To be noted that she worked at St-Joseph Hospital in Dalhousie for 37 years.
Her fight against cancer was admirable when she herself became victim of that sickness at least four times. But it was a fall, not cancer, that caused her death.
