MacKenzie, Helen Gladys - 81, Truro passed away on April 20, 2010. Born in Truro, Helen was the youngest daughter of the late Kenneth and Ethel (MacPhee) MacKenzie. Helen is survived by nephew, Kenneth MacKenzie and wife, Pat and their children, Scott and Allison, all of Port Hawkesbury; sister-in-law, Enid (Nickie) MacKenzie (wife of Clyde) and nephew Kevin, both of Truro; nephew Gary, Great Village; nephew, Alan (Patsy) and their son, William, all of Lower Debert; several cousins. Helen studied at Success Business College in Truro and worked at Stanfields as an office worker from 1946 to 1959. In the 1960s, Helen stayed at home and cared for her mother and her father's youngest brother, Donald MacKenzie. She returned to work in 1971 at the town office in Truro until her retirement. Helen had a lifetime interest in music and enjoyed travelling in earlier years. She was a member of the Diamond Rebekah Lodge and the First United Church both of Truro. She was predeceased by her brothers Graham (Ida Macdonald), Cape Breton, John, Ontario, Roy and Clyde both of Truro. She was also predeceased by sister Mae who died in infancy and Margaret Alice Grimstead and her husband James of Winnipeg. No visitation by request. There will be a committal service at the Robie Street cemetery on Monday, May 3rd at 1:00 pm with Rev. Judith Perry and Rev. David MacNaughton officiating. Donations in Helen's memory may be made to the IWK Health Center, Halifax or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Arrangements entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro.
