It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Ian Campbell at the An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.
Born in Donkin, Ian was the son of the late John and Violet (Kennedy) Campbell.
In his early years, Ian was the owner of a body shop and later worked for JVS Trucking until his recent illness.
Ian is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 28 years, Diane Dove; daughter, Nœlle Christie (Mike MacDonald), North Sydney; son, Richie Christie (Ashley Barlow), Saskatoon; sisters, Sharon Adshade, Sydney, Eunice (Kevin) Curry, Blackbrook. Ian is also survived by his grandchildren, Chelsea Christie and Jenna MacDonald, and nieces, Sharon, Colleen, Lois, and Joanne. Ian will be sorely missed by his best friend and buddy, Angus LeBlanc.
Besides his parents, Ian was predeceased by his sister, Emeline Campbell in infancy and brother-in-law, Art Adshade.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010 at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4 in the funeral home chapel, with Mr. Kirk Neville officiating. A private interment with immediate family will take place at Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines, at a later time.
Donations may be made to the An Cala Palliative Care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
