With great sadness and broken hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Rita Agnes Devison, 70, on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Glace Bay General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late John and Theresa (Williams) Nicholson.
She was a member of St. Leo's parish. Rita was a retired employee of Kmart; where she worked for 30 years Rita's greatest gift in life was her family and friends.
Rita is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Jimmy (Sr.); her only child, Jimmy (Jr.) whom she adored; her loving daughter-in-law, Sandra who was like a daughter to her; her treasured grandchildren, Dale and Linsey; and, her brother-in-law, Robert 'Bobby' Devison; sisters, Ida (Dan) Taylor, Gladys (Reginald) Reynolds, Delores Boutilier, Theresa (Peter) Neary, Cora Nutter, Margie Caume; brothers, Joe and Phonse. Rita always had a special place in her heart for her many nieces, nephews, family and friends; especially, Patsy Sampson. She was a devoted hockey fan; her favourite player being Sidney Crosby.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her father-in-law, Naish Devison; mother-in-law, Shirley Shepperd; brothers-in-law, Eric Nutter and Sandy Caume; and siblings, Bridget, Leo, George, Johnny and Archie.
Visitation will be Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Curry's Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. The Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday at 2 p.m. in St. Leo's Church, Father Leo Boone officiating. Burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
