WURMLINGER, Bernard - Bernie was born on March 6, 1930, in Dunkirk, SK. He grew up on the farm and began his career of hard work at the age of nineteen. In 1954, he motored to Kincaid where he began working as a cat skinner for the R.M. of Pinto Creek #75 and continued operating heavy equipment for the next 21 years. On June 21, 1957, he exchanged marital vows with Valarie Ross at the Kincaid United Church. Their oldest son, Dennis was born on May 29, 1958. Bernie and Val's family continued to grow with the addition of Kelly on April 17, 1959, and Daryl on January 23, 1961. In 1974, Bernie purchased a TS14 Terex scraper and started his own company B.W. Earthmoving Ltd. For the next 27 years, he built dams, dykes, dugouts, and roads for numerous people and R.M.s. Bernie loved his work and earned the reputation of being an excellent earthmover. In his spare time, he loved watching WWF wrestling on Monday nights. Bernie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Valarie; his sons, Dennis (Peggy) of Frontier, Kelly (Anita) of Gull Lake, AB, Daryl (Nancy) of Elkford, BC; his grandchildren, Shelby, Taylor, Tyler, Joel and Gavin; brothers, Arnold (Faye), Ernie (Doreen), Walter (Lynn); sisters, Kay and Liz (Gerald). Bernie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Katharina Wurmlinger; sister, Mary; and brothers, Pete, Frank, John and Joe. Bernie passed away on April 29, 2009, at 3:15 am at the age of 79 years. A memorial service was held on May 2, 2009, at the Warren's Funeral Home Chapel with Christine Ciona officiating, followed by the interment at the Mount Pleasant Burial Park. Donations in Bernie's name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
