BARAGAR - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Victor Albert Baragar of Ponteix, and formerly of Mankota, at St. Joseph's Foyer in Ponteix, SK on Saturday April 24, 2010 at the age of 74 years. Victor was born April 19, 1936 on the family farm in the Reliance District west of Mankota, SK and attended school in Wallard, SK. Vic was married four times; to Donna Dixon in 1958, Carole Krahn in 1976, Joyce Bedard in 1987 and to Gladys Jones in 1996. He was a cab driver in Swift Current for many years and also drove charter buses. He was a past member of the Swift Current Eagles Club as well as the Mankota Lions Club. Vic's love of music and his ability as a gifted guitar player led him to play in several bands including Mankota's Southern Playboys, Gull Lake Rangers, Buzz Trottier and many other musicians. He loved to play ball and coached several teams. Victor is survived by his children; daughter Ruth (Stuart) Smith and their children Chrysta with Bailey and Amber; son Coty (Alysha) Smith and their children Brodan, Ella Gail, and Dillan; daughter Lucy (Ken) Bokor and their children Randi and Michael; son Russell (Cindy) Baragar; daughter Jackie (Spencer) McDonald and their son Jayden; sister Gail (Sylvester) Bechal; brother Larry (Wendy) Baragar as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Betty in 1945, his dad Albert in 1974 and his mother Jean in 1979. A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 2:00 pm from St. Albert's Roman Catholic Church in Mankota, SK with Father Juanito Vargas officiating. The organist was Joan Stengler, special music was played by Gail Bechal on accordian and by Kevin Harden on guitar. The urn bearer was Russell Baragar. Interment will take place in the Wallard Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Vic's memory to the St. Joseph's Foyer Safe Garden fund, Ponteix, SK. Lemieux Funeral Home, Ponteix, SK were entrusted with the arrangements.
