The passing of Jessie Lavania (Cameron) Hamilton, wife of Cecil Allen Hamilton, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on May 1, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on April 18, 1917 in Marysville, NB, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Albertha (Boyce) Cameron. Jessie was a member of the Marysville United Church of Canada and of the Barkers Point Half Century Club. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flower and vegetable garden. Her favorite pastime was reading. Besides her husband of 70 years, she is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Watson of Fredericton, NB; son, Douglas Paul Hamilton (Sharon) of Fredericton, NB; four grandchildren, Steven Fraser (Juanita), Derek Hamilton (Johanna), Mark Fraser (Jocelyne) and Paula Sharpe (Dave); great grandchildren, Sarah, Daniel, Jakob, Tanner and Cash; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sons-in-law, Donald Fraser and Bill Watson; brothers, Douglas Cameron (Marjorie) and Harry Cameron (Ada).
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 10 am with Rev. Mac Campbell officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be grandchildren, Steven and Mark Fraser, Derek Hamilton and Paula and Dave Sharpe; great nephews, Jason Sullivan and Donald Cameron. Interment will take place at Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery, Fredericton, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marysville United Church "Building Fund" or to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation.
