It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of John Charles Fudge, 80, on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at the Northside General Hospital.
A beloved husband, father and friend, Charlie was born in Newfoundland, the son of the late Jacob and Elsie (Anderson) Fudge.
Charlie worked as a fisherman, later moving to North Sydney where he was employed with National Sea Products for 40 years until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney. Charlie’s love of family and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ were his life’s greatest contentment. We have all been deeply blessed with his love and friendship.
Charlie is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 27 years, Sylvia (Slade) Fudge; his four children, Ethel King (Eldridge), John (Sibby) Fudge, Eve (Lawrence) and Kerry Anne (Chris); his stepchildren, Tommy Morris (Darlene), Ian Morris (Irene), Terry Morris (Kim), Robbie Morris (Kim); 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and his many beautiful nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Beulah (Griffin) Fudge, brother, Ken, sisters, Myrtle and Ethel in infancy, his grandson, Ryan.
Special thanks to Dr. John Kirkpatrick and the nursing staff at the Northside General Hospital and County Homemakers for their wonderful care and compassion.
Visitation for Charlie will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday, May 7 in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service to be held 11 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew Wesley United Church with Rev. David Luker officiating.
