April 16, 1913 – May 2, 2009
Garda (nee Wilgenhof) Boyd of Prince Albert, SK passed away peacefully at Mont St. Joseph Nursing Home at 96 years of age. She was born and raised in Prince Albert where she had fond memories of time spent with family and friends at Christopher Lake. She retired from Humphries Clinic in 1978. She was a crack shot with a .22 caliber rifle and won the 1945 Dominion Marksmen Award for Target Shooting. Garda is survived by her sons Lester (Pat) Bellan of Sherwood Park, AB and Keith (Bev) Bellan of Prince Albert; her son-in-law Al Leland of Regina; her ten grandchildren; her twenty-three great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; her sister Edie Green; her brother Fred (Eva) Wilgenhof of Chilliwack, BC and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Clifford; her daughter Carole Leland and her brother John Wilgenhof. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5 from River Park Memorial Chapel. The Reverend Avonda McKay will officiate. Interment of cremated remains will take place in the Garden of Memories, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. It is the family’s request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mont St. Joseph Nursing Home, 777 – 28 Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 8C2.
