It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Sylester Saniga on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Czechoslavakia, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Rosastick) Saniga.
Sylester worked for many years with Devco in New Waterford.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing.
He was a proud member of the Sydney Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel (Evely); two daughters, Eleanor MacDougall, Truro, Helen (Bill) Hinchey, Peace River, Alta.; three sons, Lloyd (Betty) Saniga, Toronto, Ont., John (Elan) Saniga, Moncton, N.B., Michael (Donna) Saniga, Edmonton, Alta.; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his three grandsons, Mark Hinchey, Jefferey MacDougall, Seth Saniga.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St. Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 6 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ron Coole officiating. Interment will follow the service in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney-Glace Bay Highway.
