James Albert (Bert) Lang passed away Saturday May 1, 2010 at Polson North Extended Care Unit in Vernon, BC, at the age of 87. Bert was born August 27, 1922 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He enjoyed a happy childhood filled with hockey, baseball, canœing on the river, picnics and family sing-a-longs. He served in the Navy during World War ll, earning several commendations for his service. After the war, Bert met wife Doris (Dorie) and the two married in 1947. The couple had three children and moved to Victoria, BC in 1963. They retired in Vernon, BC in 1985. Always an active volunteer, Bert served as a scout leader, baseball organizer and coach, packed hampers for the Salvation Army, assisted at Disabled Civilians in Moose Jaw and at Daybreak Adult Day Care Centre in Vernon. Bert was predeceased by his parents, James Alexander and Violet Pogson Clee, brother William, and sisters Cora, Florence, and Rose. He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Dorie, and three children: Gary (Rona), Victoria; Douglas, Vancouver; and Judith (Vlado), Vernon. Bert is also survived by grandchildren James, Anna, Joness and great-grandson Aiden, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are invited to donate to the Alzheimer Society of BC, 300-828 West 8th Ave., Vancouver, BC, V5Z 1E2
