We, the family of Helen Mary Roach, regret to announce her passing on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Helen passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, Helen was the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Neil) Kelly.
Helen is survived by son, Daniel 'Dannie' Edward (Liz Anne), Glace Bay; grandsons, Daniel 'Dan' (George), Sydney, Jeffery, Halifax; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by special niece, Mary Gould (Archie), and grandniece, Jennifer Ludlow, Glace Bay.
Helen was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Edward Roach, daughter, Elizabeth Anne, in infancy, brothers, Neil, Cecil, Gerald, sisters, Lillian and Jean.
In honouring Helen's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A private graveside service will be held at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney, at a later date with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating.
Donations in Helen's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Palliative Care of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
