PAUL GRANT

Passed in: Saskatchewan, Canada

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Paul Grant, suddenly, on May 5, at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. He was 49. Paul was a loving partner for over 25 years to his wife Kathy (Himsl), and a devoted and proud father to Jessica (Nathan), Jeffrey and David. He was a bright, articulate, fun-loving man who was always ready to argue his point and usually succeeded at having the last word. Paul David Grant was born June 6, 1959 in Pullman Washington and came with his family to Saskatoon in 1963. He attended Georges Vanier Elementary and Holy Cross High Schools. Paul graduated from the College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan in 1983 and joined McKercher LLP where he became a partner in 1990. A life-long sports enthusiast Paul played baseball, football, and basketball. He coached the Saskatoon Blue Jays and was league president. He played old-timers hockey and was an avid member of Riverside Golf and Country Club. He was a voracious reader, loved music and poetry, and was making plans to build his dream cabin at Emma Lake. Paul will be sadly missed by his mother Melba, his siblings Keith (Colleen), Dale (Joanne), Barbara (Jim) and Robert (Ken), his father –in-law Roman Himsl, Heather (Al), Chris (Dianne), and Patty (Paul), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law Doreen Himsl, his brother Marvin and his father Donald. A Vigil of Prayer will be held Thursday May 7 at 7:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday May 8 at 10:00 am. Both services will be at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 222 Willow St. Saskatoon, celebrated by Rev. Raymond Senger. Internment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, arrangements in care of Lyle Burkell, Saskatoon Funeral Home. Condolences may be emailed to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com Donations in Paul’s memory may be made to Royal University Hospital Foundation or the Saskatchewan Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
