KENT (Fowlie), Joyce - 79, The Mira Long Term Care Facility, Truro, passed away peacefully, after spending much special time with family, on Monday evening, May 10, 2010, in Colchester Regional Hospital. Born June 10, 1930, in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Burton and Mary (Hoare) Fowlie. Joyce grew up in the East End of Truro, attended Brunswick Street United Church and was trusted by many families who welcomed her into their homes to look after their children. She made the best of every day and made sure she told her family and friends how much she loved and cared for them. She had a soft spot for all animals and their well-being and enjoyed all types of music. Joyce is survived by her daughters, Jill (Grant) Higgins, Shortts Lake; Sandra (Dave) Preston, Pickardville, Alberta; grandchildren, Tracey, Todd, Tara, Bryce, Tiffany; great grandchildren, Brandon, Faith, Alex, Joseph, Owen, Cooper, Ryker, Shyla; sisters, Helen Boomer, Bible Hill; June (Cyril) MacIntosh, Judy McNutt, Truro; step-grandchildren, Stephen, Kenda, Tonda and their families; best friend since childhood, Phyllis Hinton; special friend, Carl Fraser; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Lewis Dryden; second husband, Donald Kent; son, Paul Dryden; sister, Frances McCabe. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, May 13, 2010, Reverend Ebbie W. Snow officiating.
