Peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, with his loving wife and family by his side, of Desmond Arthur Gallant of Alma, P.E.I., age 80 years. Beloved husband of Hazel (nee Corcoran) Gallant. Born in Duvar, P.E.I., on May 1, 1929, he was the son of the late Dorice and Clara (nee Arsenault) Gallant. Lovingly remembered by his children, Sandra of Alma; Alanna (Terry) Shea of Summerside; Marvin (Gwenda) of Huntley; Alden (Bernice) of Huntley; Garth (Terri) of Alma; Beverley (Joey) Richard of Huntley; Lorna (Lloyd) Richard of St. Peter and St. Paul; Leigh (Diane) of Alma. He is dearly loved and sadly missed by his grandchildren, Kristen, Mitchell and Brianne Shea; Megan, Lisa, Nicky, Curtis, Kendra, Jennifer, Katelyn, Melanie, Nicole, Shannon and Spencer Gallant; Tiffany, Christopher, Bradley and Jeffrey Richard. Dear brother to Audrey (Reg) Pineau of Bloomfield, Winston of Duvar, and Carmel (Basil) Reilly of Duvar. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Marie and Bill O'Brien of Toronto; Zeta Clarkin of Florida; Lorraine Walker of Toronto; Norma and Roger Bulger of Foxley River; Dale and Mae Corcoran of Saint John, N.B.; Arlene McLellan of Toronto; Aleitha and Grant Shaw of Lower Sackville, N.S.; Allison and Pam Corcoran of Woodstock; Carole Gallant of Calgary, Alberta; and Anne Marie Corcoran of Rosebank. He will be sadly missed by his special nieces and nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Jeremy Shea; a brother, Terrance; sister-in-law, Mary Gallant; and brother-in-law, Winston Corcoran. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral on Saturday, May 9, from the Sacred Heart Church, Alberton, at a time to be announced later.
