Passed in: New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: May 15th, 2010

It is with great sadness the family of the late Shirley Lois Campbell announces her passing on May 15, 2010.
Born in Stellarton in 1929 to a strong coal mining family, she was the daughter of the late Alexander N. & Bertha (Taylor) Sample and was a life time resident of Stellarton.
Lois attended Sharon St. John United Church, was a member of the UCW, Marion Group, the Easy Dœs It & HOW Groups and the over 50 Dart League. For over 40 years she was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch 28 of the Royal Canadian Legion where she held the long time position of membership secretary.
She enjoyed her weekly outings with Amy & Briac, doing word puzzles, baking goodies, cinnamon rolls and sponge cake were her specialty. Although she had reached her 81st year, her mind was sharp and she always had a story which started with "wait till I tell you."
Lois had many wonderful friends. Her best friend as we all knew was "butterball", a large fluffy cat who understood her every word. Thank you to all Mom's friends who over the years offered drives, as we all know she was always ready to go when the opportunity presented.
She was most proud of her daughters, "my girls" as she would say, Janine Underhill, Riverside Albert, NB, Denise Taylor, Stellarton, and Mary Jean Campbell (Ron MacDonald) New Glasgow. Her grandchildren Daniel Fraser, Amy (Steven) Cameron , Mindy (Stephen) Liptay , and Victoria Underhill who spent many days enjoying Nana's cookies and playing crazy 8's. The great grand children brought new life to Lois during the past few years, Jenica & Aynsley Liptay and Briac Cameron.
Lois was predeceased by her husband William T. Campbell, brothers; Winton, Clarence, Benvie, Sylvanous & Reid Sample, sisters; Jean Campbell & Laura Mackenzie.
Her remains will rest at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home for visitation on May 17, from 2pm to 4pm and 7-9pm. Ladies Auxiliary to RCL Branch #28 will hold a service at 6:30 pm.
Funeral services will be held from Sharon St. John United Church on May 18 at 2 pm with Rev. John Roy officiating. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Lois may be made to Sharon St. John United Church or the SPCA. Family flowers only. A time of fellowship will be held in the church hall following the service.
