The passing of Clara Bernice Stafford, widow of the Late John "Jack" Everett Stafford, occurred peacefully at York Manor Nursing Home on Saturday, May 15, 2010. She was 90. Born in Marysville on February 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Lila (Hazelwood) Page. Clara worked for a number of years at the former Marysville Cotton Mill and was at one time an active member of the Women's "Morning Out Group". She held many executive positions in various senior groups. An active bowler that didn't miss a tournament until she was well into her eighties and her health would no longer allow her to bowl. She enjoyed sports, both watching the pros on TV and her grandsons on baseball hill. Clara had many dear friends and was loved by all. She had a dedicated family and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved to travel, play dominœs, knit and crochet. She was a devoted member of the Crosspoint Wesleyan Church. Clara is survived by her daughter Jackie Moir and son-in-law, Vernon of Durham Bridge; sons Frank (Ellen) Stafford, Sam (Jean) Stafford, Albert (Dawn) Stafford and Joe (Marjorie) Stafford all of Penniac, Jerry (Phyllis) Stafford of Ripples, Vernon (Tammy) Stafford of N.S.; 29 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Clara is also survived by a devoted friend, Lona Johnston. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by a son Jim, daughter Sharon Bennett, son-in-law Dave Bennett, sister Edith Hughson, grandson Lorne Leon Stafford and granddaughter Ashley.
Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road where visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 18th from 2 to 4, and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at Crosspoint Wesleyan Church 4 Coronation Court Marysville on Wednesday, May 19th at 11 AM with Rev. Mel Norton officiating assisted by Rev. Lona Johnston and Pastor Conard Symonds. Interment to follow in the Penniac United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be; John and Tyler Moir, Jim, Albert, J.J and Rob Stafford. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Alzheimer's Society or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
