VOLDEN - William Kenneth, age 73 of Lancer, SK, passed away May 4, 2009, at the Leader Hospital in Leader, SK. The memorial service was held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2009, from the Lancer Community Hall with Reverend Catherine Christie officiating. The pianist was Marilyn Buck. Rick Volden was the urn bearer and Ron Volden read the eulogy. The ushers were Chris Appleyard and Darren Wagner. The honorary urn bearers were his grandchildren and great grandchild. The interment service was held at the Lancer Cemetery. William is survived by his wife, Julie; children, Neil (Diann) Volden, Kim (Ernie) Napper, Ken (Sam) Volden and Jason (Jocelyn) Volden; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; his brothers, Ron (Ann), Larry (Verna) and Rick; siste,r Joanne (Peter) Volden Carver; uncle Don; in-laws, Marlene Decker, Stan (Mary) Tosczak, Gail (Lorne) Stockbrugger, Lawrence (Carol) Tosczak; many nieces and nephews; as well as his horse Ginger and puppy Pierre. He was predeceased by his parents, Loraine and Dorothy Volden; father and mother-in-law, Gus and Marie Tosczak; brother and sister-in-law John and Shirley Golden; and nephew David Decker. William was born in Abbey, SK, on April 14, 1936. He attended school at both Abbey and Lancer as well as attended Teacher's College in Moose Jaw, SK. William married Juliana Tosczak on June 30, 1962, in Lumsden, SK. As a teacher he taught school in various places, but he settled on the family farm in 1972 to do what he loved best which was farming and horses. His special interests included farming, flying, horses and taking family on camping trips. His family and friends will always fondly remember that he never went anywhere without his cowboy hat. Memorial donations to the Habitat for Health Care Swift Current Rotary House, Box 1706, Swift Current, SK, S9H 4G6 would be appreciated by the family.
