MUNROE, Donis Harry - 67, Valley, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday afternoon, May 6, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital. Born May 23, 1941 in Truro, he was a son of Harry Munroe, Stewiacke and the late Phyllis (Higgins) Munroe. Donis worked with the Department of Natural Resources as a bush pilot and then with the Canadian Coast Guard from where he retired in 1999. He was an associate member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro. He enjoyed woodworking and was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the camp in Comeau Lake. Along with his father, Donis is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Elizabeth Mae “Liz†(Green); daughters, Katherine (Gordon) MacMaster, Grosse Pointe, Michigan; Phyllis Munroe (Khatchig Hayrabedian), Brampton, Ontario; son, Michael, at home; grandchildren, Mhairi, Rory and Ronan MacMaster and Alyne Hayrabedian; sisters, Karen (Ernie) Nauffts, Judy (Graham) Brundage, Diane (John) Stewart, all of Dartmouth; brothers, Calvin, Amherst/Stewiacke; Harold (Marie), Waverley; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Wayne. All are invited to attend a graveside funeral service that will be held 2 pm Monday, May 11, 2009 in Watson Cemetery, East Prince Street, Truro, Reverend Brian DeLong officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donis’ memory to Valley United Church or IWK Health Centre Foundation are welcomed.
