NEW GLASGOW/EGERTON - Sophie Elizabeth Grant, formerly of New Glasgow and Egerton, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Arborstone Enhanced Care, Halifax.
Born in Greenvale, Pictou County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel A. and Bessie (MacDonald) MacIntosh.
She was a nursing graduate from the Salvation Army Grace Maternity Hospital, Halifax. She worked at the Gun Shop during the Second World War. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow.
She is survived by a son Donald (Donna), Dartmouth; grandchildren: Jamie (Cindy), Porters Lake; Wendy, Dartmouth; great-granddaughter, Charley; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John P. Grant, sisters: Ellen Fraser, Anna MacRae, Grace Webster and Ethel Fraser; brothers: Andrew, Arthur, Alexander, Finlay and Henry.
Visitation 7-9 p.m. Friday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial will be in Telford Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Holiday Inn Express.
