Albert Chiasson passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Belle Cote, he was a son of the late Arsene and Zellie Chiasson MacFarlane.
Albert is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Evelyn (Maillet) Chiasson; children, Diane (Jim), Yvon (Barbara), John (Brenda); brother Gus ,Waltham; sister, Helen, Belle Cote. He will be sadly missed by his great-grandson, Albert Jr.; granddaughter, Susanne; grandsons, Corey and Michael; great-grandchildren, Ainsleigh and Kaysleigh; sister-in-law, Marion Dugay; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Gerard, Yvon, and Bert and grandson Gerry.
There will be no visitation at the request of the family. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Albert will be held today (Saturday), May 22, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave., with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Carmel Centre in New Waterford.
