The passing of Dawn James Dorcas of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Kathleen "Kay" (Kilburn) Dorcas occurred on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Veteran's Health Unit, Fredericton, NB. Born on August 3, 1922 in Williamsburg, NB he was a son of the late James and Edith (Clarkson) Dorcas. Dawn was the Secretary/Treasurer for the Royal Canadian Legion, Fredericton Branch # 4. He was a Bee Keeper and also owned and operated a Christmas tree farm. He was veteran of the Second World War, was a member of the NB Christmas Tree Association, the NB Bee Keeper Association, the Royal Canadian Legion, Fredericton Branch # 4 and the AirForce Club.
Dawn is survived by one daughter, Shelley (Robert) Cameron of Dartmouth, NS; one son, Grant Dorcas (Lynn) of Halifax, NS; grandchildren, Patrick, Katelyn and Ryan Dorcas; sister, Margaret (Leonard) Gullison of Williamsburg, NB; several nieces and nephews.
Although there will be no visitation, friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Service at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 2pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4 have been asked to assemble for a Tribute Service on Monday at 2 pm. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Arthritis Society or to the charity of the donor's choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
